DIY Slider with Window Scrapbooking Effect Tutorial

Hello my friends..
And as I promised, I am returning to share a process of creating a Slider with Window Scrapbooking Effect, which you can use in any craft project.
There are few blog posts that you might like to read first, but this technique doesn't require knowledge of the full project where it was used:

So what is a slider with window effect?
Basically it is a tag, that is sandwiched between two layers of paper, which are spaced out with pop up dimensional layer.
Let me show you how it works/looks in finished product (it might be easier to understand the making process).
You are going to need:
- 2 prints of the same scenery (in my case its this whimsical garden with the gate)
- 1 slightly smaller image/tag with images
- chipboard or foam
- threads & yarn or ribbons
- cutting tools
In this example I am making a jumbo tag with the gate....
First of all you want to find a place for the window on your scenery piece (it is an opening where you can see your sliding tag images moving through). In my case the opening in the gate will be a secret door/our window...
You see when I opened secret door/window there is another image inside - it is our tag, that will be moving...
here I am starting to pull out this tag up and you can see change of scenery in the window...
now you can see the end of the tag on its way up...
And here you can see on the top of my project (jumbo tag) appearance of the moving tag, while I am pulling it out...
Here you can see that the bottom of my tag isn't showing in the secret door/window area any longer, and you can see more of the tag on the top of the project....
That is very simple concept:
- you cut an opening in the top layer  (in this case secret door)
- you pulling the tag underneaths of the top layer through the cut out opening...
here is close up on empty window...

Oh, you'll say... How come you see the same image/opening again? Very well grasshopper!

!!! Secret of seen the same opening image as on our 1st picture of secret door/window is two layers of the same picture (whimsical garden with the gate)!!!
Do you remember I mentioned sandwiching the tag?
So I printed out the image of whimsical garden with the gate twice... My tag is moving between those two layer.. And when I am pulling the tag out of the window view, you magically seen the same scenery again...
 Simple as that!
And because you are pulling sliding tag up you can see more images here....
It's like your normal tag in the envelope, but there is a secret to that tag...
To find out that secret, watch this video...
Good luck!

ALICE in Wonderland JUMBO TAG

Hello my friends..
Today I would like to share with you my project, that I created for ALICE in wonderland MINI Loaded Envelope + JUMBO TAG swap at Gold Pro Loaded Envelope FB group and my partner Bonnie Kohane
If you stumbled up on this post first, I will encourage you to start from the 1st post about this project, which you can find here
So now are of too explore my Jumbo tag, that moves, opes and wobbles...
Love movements in my projects - it makes them alive...
We were suppose to make 3.5 x 8.5 inch tag, that will go into our mini loaded envelope....
Well, I thought, that sticking out Jumbo Tag will look odd unless I will make it flow with tiny LE...
So I came up with an idea
I started with chipboard base of desired size and printed out images (which are digital collages created by me) fit to the size. Printed out twice....
                                                      Front                           Back

On the front of the tag I adhere my digital collage as a background. Using my second printed sheet of paper I cup out desired elements and popped up some using foam blocks, self made hot glue dots and DIY motion wobble springs + tucked on the edges extra images related to the project.
I know its allot to take in, but I did recorder tutorial on all of those elements and techniques, which I will post in the next few posts (so you are covered)...

here is an example of pop up

that is an example of motion wobble
You can't tell the difference by looking on the picture, maybe only that motion wobble sits a bit higher of the page.... But unless you know what you are looking for, you won't be able to recognize it... Only time you can see it, if you are holding it in your hands...
Another interactive couple elements that I talked about in the video below....

Remember, I said that my jumbo tag will be sticking out like a sore out of my mini LE...
So I strategically placed extra elements above the top line of the mini LE. I was going for effect of exposition out of mini loaded envelope...
So those staked cups are tucked in at the very top of my jumbo tag, which gives me narrower bottom of the tag to fit in my mini LE....
The same positioning technique was done for the Red Queen on the opposite side from the cups...

Here you can see another element of pop up of Mad Hatter and Mad Rabbit and motion wobble effect on Alices legs, while she is falling down the hole...
The phrase "Follow the white rabbit" is a digital collage element and because of its narrowing towards the bottom font, it looks like realistic dimensional element...

The back of this Jumbo tag has some interesting features as well
At the base is looks like nothing, just a tag... Then you realize there is a yarn sticking out, so it must be a tag in the pocket... And you are correct! But It's not just your simple tag that you can tuck in or take out... Let go....
Hm, you might say.. she is so inconsistent... jumping from one thing to another.... I can assure you, its all connected...
You are looking not only at the rusted gate in the garden, but a secret door as well... Lets pull that white rose/door knob....
Oh, there is another world in there and it's upside down.. As it should according Alice in Wonderland story...
 Oh yes, there is Alice...
oooo, hold on just a second, is she going up??? It's totally the opposite direction where she suppose to go...

LOL "We are all MAD here"

Well, what is taking place (like in any magic trick - there is a secret), we are pulling our tag up....

all the way up till the gate entrance is empty...
But on the top of our tag we can see Mad Hatter with his buddy Crazy Rabbit
That effect calls slider with window effect (and I did recorded a video tutorial). I will be posting it in the next few post, so stay tuned...
So that how the base of the back side of this tag was created...
Now that was too simple for me...
I added a flip open Mad Hatter, who guards the secret door to the garden, to the upside down world.. Complicated enough? Love it!

Ok, enough of playing around.... LOL (how is it even possible?)
Let get onto bigger and more 3D elements of the back of this tag....
So that's how this tag looks all finished...

Mad Hatter is hiding the secret door from the plane view.....
 yes, right behind his hat....
But on the top of the back side of this tag (again only top part positioning, because I need the bottom of this tag to fit into the mini loaded envelope) I added more elements: whimsical tea pot with flamingo head sticking out and a tiny mouse hiding on the top - floating in the air , like he suppose to, Cheshire cat.... OMG, I love him sooooooooo!
Here is a close up on that beautiful tea pot, which I just popped up...
And my darling Cheshire cat is wobbling above watch and Down the rabbit hole phrase...
So in all that tag turned out mind blowing (in my humbled opinion)...
Ans the project turned out absolutely fantastic!
I am very pleased with results of my creation and humbled appreciation from recipient topped it all!!

Hope you enjoyed your time with me!

Hello my friends..
Today I would like to share with you my project, that I created for ALICE in wonderland MINI Loaded Envelope + JUMBO TAG swap at Gold Pro Loaded Envelope FB group and my partner Bonnie Kohane
If you stumbled up on this post first, I will encourage you to start from the 1st post about this project, which you can find here
So now that we covered wands, paper clips and embellishments, we can move on to the Mini Loaded Envelope itself
This mini LE measures 4x6 inches and you can find a great tutorial on how to make it here
The front looks like this.....
I used some digital paper I have and some G45 older Alice in Wonderland paper
for the decoration on top of LE I am using gathered NSK Tiny Hearts lace and plastic trim
I thought that clean, but rustic look is so appropriate for the Alice in Wonderland theme
The back of mini LE looks like this....
The background is flat paper, but I added few elements: TH die cut of clock with moving hands and digital print of Alice standing on the chess pattern floor looking at the bird sitting on the rose bush, that was planted into a tea cup (that is purchased digital image, I don't have recollection where)
I cut out that image and created accordion folded edges for the pocket. That gives me extra pocket + deeper dimension and separation of the background and Alice....

Now we can finish talking about envelopes and pockets, but...
I am blaming it on my Russian roots and traditions: you never gift something empty. For example, if you gifting a box, it must have something inside (let it be a card or note or candy - something) and of course must be wrapped appropriate for the occasion...
So, let me walk you through what I put inside those pockets...

Die cut glittered gold fancy frame, bow paper clip, some flamingo feathers, a bunch of red rose buds, tiny playing cards and some printed quote from the story....
But that's not it... How about few extras and to organize those, I put it into the printed envelope...
So cute, right!!!!

Now our mini loaded envelope has at list few little things in it, which is always so appreciated...
Now to the on the main part of this swap - Jumbo Tag....
That cookies has lots of moving parts to it, so I'll see you in the nest post...
Cha-cha!
